When it comes to home theater room design, you have several options available to you. In fact, when you get right down to it, you can create any kind of home theater room design that you want. Usually though, there are only a few themes that people choose from. This article is going to introduce you to those popular themes and give you a few hints to help you create a design that is truly "you".
The first of the popular home theater room design choices is obvious: the literal theater in the home. When people choose this design, they put their efforts into re-creating the cinema experience. They will buy a few chairs and arrange them in rows. The video apparatus will either be a flat panel television that they can mount to the wall or it will be a video projector that will project the video onto the wall itself. Usually in this environment the audio is done is surround style which means that there are speakers all over the room (usually artfully hidden in the décor). The chairs are comfortable (often recliners) and there is ample room for drinks and snacks.
The second popular home theater room design is the "entertainment room". In an entertainment room, people will do more than just watch movies. These rooms are usually larger in size. The chairs are spread apart and, in addition to the audio and video consoles, there will often be a few gaming consoles as well. Sometimes there will be tables in one part of the room to encourage other kinds of gaming (card games, for instance) and often a small bar is installed and stocked with food and drinks. It is in this room that people can watch movies, listen to music, play video games, hang out, watch sports-anything entertainment related.
Home Theater How To
The third popular home theater room design is the "family room." Usually this home theater room is lined with couches and comfortable chairs. The middle of the floor is kept free so that people can lie down and stretch out while watching the television set. Any type of television set can be used in this room and the speaker system is usually arranged around the television to send the sound straight out at the audience. This room might also be home to some gaming consoles, but it is meant for family together time.
When figuring out what you need for your home theater room design, keep three things in mind: budget, space and comfort. Sharp angles might look good, but they don't create a relaxing environment (especially in a game room). Design your room around the space you have and the money that is at your disposal. Worry about the overall "look" of the design later. When you first start designing you should work toward functionality and comfort. If you want your home theater room design to be the envy of your friends, family and neighbors, you need to create a design that is warm and inviting.
